Samoa Tate, a beautiful psychiatrist, is the central character in this novel. Included are her best friend Christine Hawkins, husband Hall Hawkins (police detective), his partner Eddie Clark and Samoa’s mother.

The story begins with a couple being shot in a parking lot in which Hall and Eddie get assigned the case. Meanwhile the new widow becomes Samoa’s latest patient. Christine cannot stand her best friend being alone and single and decides to fix her up with Eddie.

I really liked the characters and their relationships and would like to see this become a series with more mystery. This book seemed more like a romance novel to me. There was not too much put into the actual mystery or police investigation itself. It was more a story about Samoa’s life.

I also had trouble with that fact that Samoa should have removed herself as the widow’s psychiatrist with the conflict of interest issue way before it ever happened.

It was definitely worth reading as it is a good story just don’t expect a big mystery. As I said earlier, I would really like to see this become a series, to follow the characters lives but with the addition of more mystery and more in depth police investigations.
