Patricia Cornwell
Class/Genre:   Mystery   Police Procedural   Thriller   Woman Main Character
Series: Kay Scarpetta # 12
2003

This is a book I almost passed up after becoming completely disillusioned with Cornwell’s writing after reading Isle of Dogs but decided to go ahead and read it since I had read all of the previous Scarpetta books. The story held my interest and brought me up to date on most of the characters I became acquainted with in previous books although I saw all the characters from a completely different point of view in this book and was left a little confused by some of it. If you haven’t read The Last Precinct and Black Notice I would advise you not to read this one at all. For those of you that have read the entire series I would say take time to read this one too but as far as I am concerned it is certainly not in a class with Cornwell’s earlier books.

There will no doubt be a No. 13 coming soon.
