Meet Mary Lisa Beverly - daytime TV soap opera star of Born to Be Wild. She has just won her third Daytime Emmy, but wants to change the way the current script is headed. She has a home in the "Colony" on Malibu Beach where her friends and the local teenagers hang out. Everything seems to be going her way, until someone tries to run her down on a Malibu street.

Has a fan confused her with her role of Sunday Cavendish, everyone's favorite "bitch goddess"? Or is someone really after Mary Lisa? Would she be safer at home, even if it means putting up with her mother and sisters? At least the police [both in Malibu and in Goddard Bay, Oregon] take the threat seriously. But they can't stop the attacks. Someone really is after Mary Lisa. Between the murder attempts in Malibu and the very real murder in Goddard Bay, Mary Lisa finds herself in close contact with several law-enforcement-types who all want to protect her. And then there are her sister's political ambitions!

I have to admit, this book took me totally by surprise. I loved it! The characters are well drawn, even the minor ones, and she did manage to surprise me. This is my first Catherine Coulter book, but I'll definitely be looking for her Lacey Sherlock & Dillon Savich (FBI Special Agents) series!
