Class/Genre:   Mystery   Police Procedural

This book is a reasonable presentation in the classic police procedural style. A wealthy man is missing, all his liquid assets have been transferred to offshore accounts, and his wealthy wife is glad to be shut of him, but wants her fair share under the pre nuptial agreement they both signed.

Exasperated with her persistent demands, the police turn the issue over to a cop who is on disability leave from the department, and encourage him to investigate on a private basis. He soon uncovers a string of deaths, a mysterious hit and run in Florida appears to be connected to the events somehow, and he realizes that the missing and deceased men all knew each other from prep school days. They were a band of rowdies known as the "FunFun Club."

Soon the cop is also persuing the facts about a mysterious death of a very young woman who died during the club's heyday, and whose murder has never been solved.

The action moves right along, and the events are nicely plotted. Virtually all the characters fit some type of suspense fiction stereotype. Readers who prefer milder story lines, and enjoy quick reads will find this book to their taste.
