After discovering so many mysteries with Christmas titles that had little or no actual Christmas ambiance or relevance this holiday season, I particularly enjoyed the spirit of Christmas the author created in this story.

Despite a number of mutilated body parts showing up in the story it remains mostly cozy, I thought the plot was more creative than some of her others, the subplots were more entertaining and she seemed to find more realistic reasons than average for the characters to rehash the clues over food which is one of my main objections to her writing style.

Of all the Mary Daheim books I have read, I like this one the best. I'm not a particularly great fan, so that only means this is a better than average story.
