This is the first of a series. Miss Zukas is a middle-aged librarian, pretty stereotypical in her fastidiousness, opinions etc. When I first made her acquaintance in this book I thought despite many commonalities I had with her that she was a twit. However, I enjoyed the story, the relationship she had with her rather colorful best friend from grade school, relationship with her mother, her wonderful side trips into the Lithuanian culture Miss Zukas grew up in, and the community of Bellehaven Washington.

As the story progressed I came to like Miss Zukas more and more, and look forward to visiting her world again. Fortunately there are several more in the series. Those who enjoy low energy, mild humor, and picturesque settings, who like mellow relaxing mysteries should be pleased to spend time with Miss Zukas.
