This is a cozy set on a college campus. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this series.

Karen Pelletier is an English professor at the very posh Enfield College in Massachusetts. She left a longtime lover in New York to take this job. She finds her fellow professor, Randy Astin-Berger, dead. Since she was the last one to talk to him (he was never a popular person with her) and the one to find him dead, there is lots of gossip about her on the campus. Her daughter Amanda comes home from college for the holidays and is introduced to us in this book.

Karen is enamored with the college president Avery Mitchell.

Ned Hilton, the professor who, as a result of the deceased's influence, did not receive tenure is one of the main suspects in the murder. Police Lieutenant Piotrowski, overweight and overwhelming, investigates. I hope that in future books chemistry happens with Karen and Piotrowski.

This is the first novel by Joanne Dobson, an associate professor of English at Fordham University. This is a great first mystery and I will be reading more!
