New Orleans attorney Tubby Doubonet is going through a mid-life crisis as he is undecided whether to remain in the city he loves or relocates to a backwater town. The divorced Tubby has three daughters, but he is not very close with them. His friend stays at Tubby’s apartment, which seems overcrowded. However, the worst item for Tubby is five weeks without a drink yet the taste of booze lingers in Tubby’s every breathing moment.

Tubby’s best friend Judge Al Hughes asks for help. The married Al had a brief fling with a campaign worker who has filed sexual harassment charges. The district attorney threatens to destroy Al unless he cooperates by providing the DA with dirt on his fellow jurists. Tubby smells a set-up and plans prove it even risking bodily harm to do so.

No one captures the essence of the Big Easy quite as Tony Dunbar does in his magnificent Doubonet series. The vivid smells and sights make readers believe they are visiting New Orleans. LUCKY MAN is loaded with sub-plots and secondary characters, some of who add very little to the main story line. Though a bit complex, the tale blends well together, entertaining lucky readers.
