Series: Macklin # 4
Forge; April 2002
Macklin is Back! The wait is over, Peter Macklin is back in action. Only this time it’s not by choice. Peter retired. He got married. And, he’s on his honeymoon in LA. And old associate spots him and tells a mob boss he used to do work for. Mr. Major, or as he was known, Maggiore, want to see Peter about a job. Peter doesn’t want to do the job, but they find a way of persuading him to come out of retirement and go to Austin. As a result his wife discovers some interesting things out about her husband. She thought he was a businessman, “ My husband is retired from the retail camera business”.
Any one who read the previous books knows Macklin isn’t going to just let this go. He doesn’t like Maggiore much. In fact he had shot him a few years ago. But now he has even more reason to want him. Macklin is a true pro, and it’s a pleasure to see him work, even if he believes he has let him self get rusty.
A truly entertaining read and well worth picking up. Loren D. Estleman is, as usual, on the top of his game. I just wish he could write faster!
