Betsy Devonshire was visiting her sister Margot when Margot was
murdered. Betsy inherited Margot’s needlecraft shop Crewel World.
Since she has to stay in town until Margot’s estate is settled , and
because Crewel World’s customers are both friendly and insistent
that she not do anything hasty, she is still here.

Jill and Lars are both local police officers. Lars is Jill’s boyfriend. When he decides to purchase a 1911 Stanley Steamer old car, Jill pitches a fit. Lars buys the car and restores it. He takes Betsy out for a ride. It rides very smooth.

Lars enters the Antique Car Run. Crewel World sponsors his Stanley Steamer. There is a preliminary run a week before the actual run. During the preliminary run, Bill Birmingham is found dead under his burning car along the side of the road. His wife Charlotte was with Betsy waiting at the final destination of the run for him to arrive.

Charlotte asks Betsy to look into the death of her husband. Then her son arrives and asks her to not look into his father’s death. Then Charlotte’s daughter appears and asks her to look into the death of her father. Betsy agrees to investigate.

I like this series, but I found this one a little harder to keep my attention. I believe the author has done her homework and fully researched the Antique Car Run that this book’s run is fashioned after. Unfortunately I learned lots more than I ever wanted to know about antique cars in this book.
