Thursday Next returns with her continuing adventure in the world of books - where she literally enters various books to converse with various characters, revise the action of the plot, and assist characters as yet unassigned to a place in literature.

It's hard to describe Fforde's books - his truly unique inventiveness evades my ability to describe it. Yet Entertainment Weekly's term "brainy silliness" comes closest to the mark.

This third entry in the series continues much of the action of the first two, and perhaps we cover ground which is becoming overly familiar. Yet Fforde dishes up just enough sly comments and wryly humerous insights to keep the reader engaged.
