Frank Corso is a true crime writer and an ex reporter. He’s made a few mistakes in his time, but it seems his biggest mistake is not knowing when to back off of a case he’s investigating. Thankfully for readers this third book is no exception. Frank is a wanted man because of a story he worked on in Texas. While on the run he ends up in a major snow storm stranded at O’Hare airport in Chicago. Going a bit stir crazy and wanting to avoid curious security guards, he and his photographer sidekick Meg Dougherty rent a SUV and head to Madison Wisconsin, the nearest airport actually letting planes fly. I’m guessing Frank hadn't experienced a true Midwest snowstorm before, because he ends up getting really stranded. Ending up in an abandoned farm house and burning anything they can find for warmth Frank and Meg end up discovering some bodies, and a perfect distraction for the problems from Texas has arrived. Of course Frank’s luck being what it is, it opens a whole new can of worms as they travel state to state searching for ties to a woman who should have been with the bodies they found. Following the clues and the cover ups along the way Frank and Meg run into numerous law enforcement groups along the way, and none of them are really too happy to see them. Will they find the person they seek? Will they want to?

A great book in the new series from a master story teller. GM Ford writes great characters, with flaws and strengths that make them irresistible. I think Ford writes great woman characters and this book just reinforces that. The story moves fast and demands that you keep up with it.
