Sixteen years ago in Chicago, the usually lucky Claudia Reynolds had a run of very painful misfortune. She lost her parents and the man she planned to marry dumped her saying he found someone else. On the day she was sent home from the hospital after giving birth to a son, The Madonna Murderer killed her baby and almost stabbed her to death.

The detective in charge of the case arranged for Claudia to get a new identity and move to Canada. There she studied and became a psychologist and wrote a book about serial killers. Now the Madonna Murderer has become active again and Ivy Dunlap is asked to join the task force and aid in his capture. Ivy realizes that this was what she was waiting for the last sixteen years to do as she needs to bring her baby’s killer to justice even if it means putting her life in jeopardy.

Anne Frasier has written a fast paced and exciting serial killer thriller that is not at all run of the mill. It is told from the perspective of the only person to survive the killings and readers learn that an incident like that needs closure. The heroine’s willingness to pursue closure for herself demonstrates a bravery that few possess.
