A lot can happen in a closed society like a convent and Frazer allows a lot of it to happen in this one. Of course there always outside influences from "the world" at St. Frideswide's and this includes a fun kidnapping which leads to murder for Sr. Frevisse to unpuzzle while enduring the inner politics of convent life. My reaction at the end of the story was ARRRGH! The story doesn't quite tie up the end of one of the threads. The kidnap/murder is wound up but the resolution of the convent story needed another paragraph. I wanted to rush right out and get the next one to find out what happens next. It was yet to be published at the time. I'd have given this one a perfect 5 paws except for that irritating ending.
