Class/Genre:   Mystery   Private Investigator
Series: Terry Orr # 4

Terry Orr is a sometime private investigator in New York City. He lives with his delightful teenaged daughter Bella, and still carries the weight of a double tragedy - the death of his wife and toddler son in a bizarre subway accident, and the blow absorbed by all New Yorkers in the fall of 2002. To increase the weight of tragedy bearing down on him, he now knows that his wife had a lover and was with him on the day she and their young son died.

In this entry in Fusilli's excellent series, Terry responds to a request from his daughter and her friends. A young high school student has not been to his classes for several weeks and his friends are concerned for his safety. Terry visits the young man's uncle, and begins a search for some mysterious missing envelopes which had been safeguarded by the uncle.

The search for the missing student as well as the mysterious envelopes lead Terry to an upscale New Jersey town with corruption simmering beneath the surface; to small museums and exhibits in various parts of New York; and to more than one violent encounter and at least two dead bodies.

As his search progresses, Terry cannot shake his grief at the betrayal and death of his wife; and the loss of his little son. Like a malevolent spirit, his memories and his loss threaten his well being, his relationship with his daughter, and the devotion and affection of a new woman in his life.

One of the better continuing series on the market right now!
