A Small Weeping begins with finding the strangled body of a prostitute in Glasgow’s Queen Street Station. Her hands are placed as if in prayer pointing towards her feet with a single red carnation in them.

DCI Lorimer is put in charge of the investigation. The next body is that of a nurse at the Grange, which is a private clinic for those with neurological disorders. Lorimer enlists the aide of psychological profiler, Solomon Brightman. The body count continues to rise and it appears they have a serial killer on their hands however things are not adding up for Lorimer and Solly as they can find no connection at all besides the signature of the praying hands with the carnation to connect the victims.

I really liked DCI Lorimer and look forward to more books in this series. I found the book to be quite suspenseful and with two of the murders being nurses at a facility for people with mental problems the list of suspects were quite high.
