Defense Attorney Sharon Hayes wins an acquittal for her famous California client. Now she plans to spend some quality time with her daughter and return to a more low profile clientele. However, her desire for solitude ends before it begins as her boss Russell Black agrees to represent Texas Congressman Will John Benedict in a highly publicized case in which he is accused of killing an intern.

Sharon is very reluctant to work with Will as she dated him in law school. Under false pretenses, Will's father Paul lured Sharon into a secluded spot where he almost raped her. She never called the police, but she never forgot and loathes Paul. Now her boss expects her to deal with a predator and the son that no one believes could kill anyone. Sharon peels away the Benedict masks of father, son, and their spouses, but finds a nest of vipers that believe they are above the law. Still, Sharon cannot believe a wuss like Will could kill a cockroach, let alone a human.

Sarah Gregory is as good as any writer today in placing the thrill in legal thriller. Her latest tale, CAPITOL SCANDALS, gives readers an insider's look at the seedy back room dealings, sordid sexual activities, and political wrangling that serve a select few. The protagonist is a heroine who knows the difference between law and justice, and goes out of her way to provide it.
