I love books with great first paragraphs. Griffin does not only a great first paragraph, her whole first chapter was so funny not only was I laughing out loud, I laughed so hard my throat went into spasm and I couldn't breath.

Its a sisters mystery (retired widows) very similar to Anne George but but set in Marin County, CA. Naturally it has the gay characters that I've been ranting are in every new writer's first book. They are at least not cartoony, but they are also not well developed as characters. It also has a garden theme which is one of my favorite genres. Anybody who enjoys Ann George should also like this book. But the motive for the murders is just plain dumb.
