This is the first in the Zeke Armstrong mysteries, and it deserved the Agatha Award that it earned. It is an excellent example of a first-rate genre storyline—fast-paced and with a quick-thinking protagonist. My kind of book!

Zeke Armstrong is the new kid on the soccer team; he only recently moved to Dallas to live with his uncle Dane because his parents work for an international humanitarian organization. During a tournament in Houston, the soccer coach disappears after being “red flagged” (kicked off the field) after arguing with a referee. When he’s found the next morning critically injured and one of the team parents is arrested, no one will listen to Zeke, who thinks the coach’s life is still in danger!

This is one series I’m really going to enjoy sharing with others. It has enough punch to keep even a reluctant reader interested and ready for the next installment, yet it never has that “written down to” feeling. I was lucky enough to have the next book, Green Streak, so I dove right in.
