Centuries ago, Earthlings crashed on the planet LAST HOPE. The descendants know they can never return to Earth because the crash destroyed the technological library. Recently, the industrial age has swept across the world.
Connal Storm wants to travel to the Western Mountains to see if he can find an energy source that will speed up the advances. He wants his new bride Arkana Crystal Song to accompany him. Arkana sees their marriage as one of convenience. She needs Connal to take her to the site where her parents died during a scientific expedition. Strange things occur in the Western Mountains such as holograms of non-existent animals, voices head in dreams, and trees weeping. Things turn weird when Connal’s mistress and her new lover arrive at their camp. The foursome pull together when something eerie threatens to eradicate life as the quartet knows it.
Anyone who reads the futuristic romances of Jayne Ann Krentz will cherish LAST HOPE. The quirky charcaters with their witty sense of the absurd merge with an alien landscape into a fascinating plot. Chloe Hall takes the sub-genre on a journey that will bring her repeat passengers wanting more tales like this one.
