This was a tremendous read. This book had me spellbound from the first page. The writing reminded me a bit of Ross MacDonald’s work with it’s intricacies and character depth.

It’s a book about friends, and friends getting over past problems. And how friends are always there for you. Friends that will go to the edge and look over with you and jump if you ask them to.

It’s a book about adventure. Flying in a float plane and trailing people through the woods. Gun fights and fist fights.

It’s a book about Canada, and it’s rural areas and the beautiful country side.

It’s a book about Native Americans and about some of their culture.

Blood Is The Sky is about a lot of things, but for me it was mostly about friendship and what that entails.

Alex’s friend Vinnie’s brother has gone missing and Vinnie feels responsible. So he is off to Canada to find him. Alex goes along to help Vinnie find him and also to help Vinnie feel less guilty about what has happened. Vinnie’s brother Tom went along as a guide with a group of hunters to a remote cabin in Canada. They didn’t come back. And Alex intends to find out why.

I am amazed by this book, and I believe it should be nominated for many awards. It is truly Steve Hamilton’s best work to date. Simply amazing.
