Detective Sergeant Honoria Laird, sometimes known as Honeypot, is on the fast track. Married to a Detective Inspector and newly pregnant she lives in Edinburgh with her husband and her dog Pippa . This slow-to- start story begins with Honey trying to find a dog for an old acquaintance who needs cheering up. He chooses two Springer Spaniel pups to train himself. Along with Honey, her husband and numerous others he is invited to participate in a grouse shoot. Afterwards, his dogs go missing along with one of the men at the shoot. The investigation goes nowhere until a body surfaces.

This is a book which will be well appreciated by readers who enjoy stories about the British countryside.
