The Second Sorrowful Mystery
Jonathan Harrington
Class/Genre:   Mystery   Ethnic   Political Intrigue
Series: Danny O'Flaherty # 2
Worldwide Library, 1999, $5.99, 251pp

I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Harrington's first book in this series and was hoping his second would equal it. In most areas it did except that in this book Danny O'Flaherty is asked by the police to investigate a murder because of his previous amateur success and their shorthandedness. And this brings him to attend an autopsy which was more graphically described than the average cozy reader would appreciate. That's the only negative.

I was delighted to discover that Danny remained in Ireland for this second adventure. The delightful characters of the Irish community of Ballycara were nearly all included. Two years time had passed which is longer than average for a second book in a series. But rather than just a passage of time, plenty of things had happened in Ballycara which made for interesting reading. I was very pleased to see the direction this second adventure took and am looking forward to book number three.
