Christine Bennett Brooks is an ex Franciscan nun who just happens to have a penchant for solving murders. She's married to Jack Brooks, a detective lieutenant in the NYPD, and mother to 5-year-old Eddie. With her having become somewhat of a local celebrity as a crime solver, Chris finds herself on the receiving end of a very strange phone call and possibly even a witness, albeit over the phone line, to murder.

The plot is complicated and, sadly, all-too-believable. The reader is caught up in the story from the very first sentence all the way to the very last. My family had to wait for me to finish the book before going out to dinner and a movie last night. I found the book's ending to be very satisfying. All loose ends were tied up neatly. Since this was my first, I have already skipped several books in the Christine Bennett series but plan to go back to the beginning - I don't want to miss a thing!
