In The Outlaw Demon Wails we find Rachel Morgan still living in her church in the Hollows with her friends Ivy the vampire, and Jenks and his family of pixies. Things are not going well as someone keeps summoning the demon, Al, from the ever-after who is determined to kill Rachel. She needs to find out who is doing it and persuade them to stop if she can.

Rachel also finds out a shocking family secret that will change her life dramatically. She cannot remain hiding from Al in her church on hallowed ground indefinitely so she takes drastic measures to try to get her life back and protect those she loves.

Once again, Kim Harrison has produced another mesmerizing volume in the Rachel Morgan series. The characters are very vivid and make one feel as if they know them intimately. The Outlaw Demon Wails can be read as a standalone however I would highly recommend that one read the previous five books in the series first so one better understands Rachel’s world and how she got to this point in her life. I look forward to many other books in this series.
