Series: Sophie Greenway # 8

Ken Loy is shot because he broadsided the car of a woman who ran a red light. Then another shooting follows, about which police are being very reticent. Sophie Greenway and Bram Baldric find these happenings throwing suspicion on friends and acquaintances. They find themselves becoming involved as they try to help.

The convoluted plot keeps the reader guessing. There are enough lowlifes to spread suspicion around. Still, I found the story being told without drawing me in. The characters seemed unsympathetic, too often making choices that seemed unrealistic. Even the protagonist, while kind and sympathetic, carried it too far by becoming a doormat for her stepdaughter and a psychotic ex- boyfriend.

Hart is a prolific writer, with books divided between this series and another. This is the first I have read in either series.
