Forced to leave her home in California after her mother's death, 17 year-old Robin is shuttled off to Wisconsin to live with an uncle she never knew existed. An uncle who at first glance appears to be withdrawn, depressed and totatly out of it. For Robin, this arrangement is only temporary until she becomes an adult and can return to California. While living in her mother's home town, she meets two attractive young men who agree to help Robin unravel her mother's mysterious past revealed in her mother's diary. She unwittingly becomes involved in a treacherous plot. Robin's feelings of betrayal and resentment flames strong as Robin's heart becomes torn as she tries to decide who she can trust. While exploring an abandonded mansion, Robin searches for a treasure map that may lead to fortune or her death.

"Past Suspicion" is one of those rare, first, books that captures your attention and wants to make you scream at the heroine to beware of the danger, only to realize that the danger is a false alarm until the next page. It reminds me of the old Nancy Drew stories with a more modern, savvy heroine.

What is truly amazing is the author wrote the first draft of her book at the age of 18, when most of us are interested in boys, dates, college and planning for our future. Watch out for this author!!
