Victoria Houston ‘s Dead Hot Mama is the 5th book in her Loon Lake Fishing Mysteries with Doc Osborne, a retired dentist, and Police Chief Lewellyn Ferris. Doc Osborne’s daughter comes to stay for the holidays with her father and almost immediately after her arrival a beautiful woman’s corpse turns up in a snowdrift. The cause of the woman’s death as well as her identity is a mystery and the beginning of a string of suspicious deaths to dampen the holiday season. Doc Osborne’s neighbor and friend Ray lends a helping hand to unravel the reason for these deaths.

Dead Hot Mama gives you much insight into the lives of people living in the lake area and the sport of ice fishing. Ice fishing is put on the back burner this year with all the mysterious deaths, and the suspicion that some of the deaths might not be accidents. Some people hope the authorities will believe they are accidents; the real purpose will shock you.

Doc Osborne and Chief Ferris’ romance is moving forward slowly but surely and I look forward to the next Loon Lake Mystery to see how this proceeds.
