In spite of coping with a disability, some individuals, such as photographer Kay Farrow, an achimoatosia sufferer, seek challenges. Even though she has poor vision, photophobia, and total color blindness, Kay seems to see things much clearer than the average person. She instantly knows that her friend and mentor, Maddy Tamaka, was murdered in a hit and run incident that was intended to appear to be an accident.
Seeking vengeance and justice, Kay retraces the final months of Maddy's life. She quickly rents the same apartment Maddy leased in one of San Francisco's worse neighborhoods She soon observes, through the window, strange dealings involving guns and sex in another apartment directly accross from hers. Kay follows that trail to the Golden Goddess Club, whose members include California's elite. Kay continues her inquiries even though she could soon be experiencing her teacher's if the club membership has anything to say about it.
San Francisco is the only city that could house a Kay, a heroine that refuses to be a victim and who enjoys life to the fullest. TRICK OF LIGHT is a modern day gothic suspense thriller that, like its predecessor THE MAGICIAN'S TALE, is a powerful crime fiction novel written by the talented David Hunt, an author who could be one of the new millennium's brightest stars.
