Rudzak kills four scientists and kidnaps the head scientist in a Columbia research facility as the first gamut in his personal war with John Logan, owner of the place. John forces search and rescuer Sarah Patrick and her dog Monty to help him find the missing scientist. They succeed in the rescue, but Rudzak escapes and now knows of Sarah.
This incident is followed by a deadly mudslide in Taiwan caused by Rudzak. Sarah goes to help and John joins her to keep her safe. Sarah sees a different side of John, far from the manipulator she hates. A local search for teenage drown victims that Rudzak murdered allows the obsessed individual to impersonate a police officer and meet Sarah.
John explains to Sarah that Rudzak killed John’s wife Chen-Li who suffered from leukemia. Rudzak is providing Chen-Li, who he swears he loved, a funeral fit for an Ancient Egyptian queen. As Rudzak brings everything to a head, John and Sarah fall in love with one another.
