“Sam Allison joined the few who dared the climb.” These are the lines from the marker that Sam Allison placed in the throat of the gargoyle on top the roof of the Falcon building twenty-five years ago. The group of men get together again at a reunion and there they are confronted by Angela, sister of Freddie, the one boy who tried the climb but didn’t make it. His fall left him broken and in a coma for years until he finally died.

Angela throws out the threat that she is thinking of filing a wrongful death lawsuit. A lawsuit could heavily damage a big deal the group is trying to get off the ground. They have almost convinced Sam Allison to join in and help them cinch the deal. Sam is a social worker and Mike, Jock and Hap have almost convinced him if he helps promote the deal he will be amply rewarded with grants for affordable housing for the people he is working to help.

When Angela is found murdered shortly after the suspicions all fall on the group previously known as the Falcons. Sam’s long time girl friend Judith is convinced that the mafia is somehow involved in the big deal that is in the works.

Sam is spooked but still attempts to stand by his friends and in the end is drawn back to the top of the Falcon Building for a surprise conclusion.
