Virologist Dr. Celeste Braun teaches at BAU University in San Francisco. The highly regarded scientist enjoys living on the edge as documented in PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATION. On a business trip to Puerto Rico, she visits the military museum at El Morro Fort when she manages to sneak into the catacombs where she finds the murdered corpse of an undercover FBI agent.

In Washington DC, Dr. Sarah Lovett runs a neurology-oncology clinic that has ties to clinics in Taiwan and San Juan. The FBI agent in charge of an illegal drug investigation knows that patients of the DC clinic travel to the associated clinics with coded messages involving future drug shipments to the states. The couriers have no idea what they carry. The FBI recruits Celeste, due to her scientific knowledge, to go undercover to learn how the messages are actually being delivered. However, the independent Celeste will soon run up against the CIA, FBI, local governments, and the Mafia.

Though B.B. Jordan has extensive scientific knowledge, the author fails to break it down so a lay-person can understand. That slows down an intriguing scientific mystery as readers decipher what is said. In turn, that hurts an interesting story line starring a wonderful woman of the nineties. Fans who enjoy a technically laden scientific mystery will gain much pleasure from SECONDARY IMMUNIZATION.
