Writing a bibliography of Erle Stanley Gardner, former attorney and creater of Perry Mason, Cece stumbles across a misfiled letter written to Mr. Gardner from Joe Albacco, a man who was convicted of murdering his wife in 1958. Cece wonders if this is letter would shed more light into the personality of ESG. In the letter Albacco pleads for Erle Stanley Gardner to intervene and help search for the real killer. After the meeting and talking to the prison Chaplin, Cece believes Joe is not guilty of the crime that sent him to prison for most of his adult life. Intrigued, Cece starts investigating only to be followed by a black SUV and another possible murder. Cece easily transports us to the days of early Hollywood while searching for vintage Hollywood clothing, clues, and oil discovery which made some people multi-millionaires to the hustle and bustle of today's modern L.A. Meanwhile, Cece's is troubled by her daughter's announcement of a divorce. Cece promises not to meddle after learning that Annie is staying at Cece's best friend's. She's also trying to figure out to whom she's attracted to most, the rich, alluring Burnett or the sexy Detective Gambino.

Offbeat and totally delightful, Susan Kandal's amatuer slueth, Cece, will have you begging for more.
