In a cabin in the Everglades Max Freeman and Sherry Richards are vacationing away from phones, TV and any contact with civilization. Sherry is a detective with the local Sheriff's Department, Max a retired cop now a PI, taking a break from stress to fish and drink beer while watching sunsets and wildlife. What they don't know is that a fierce hurricane is heading their way.

When it strikes,Sherry is injured with no way of getting to necessary medical help. Salvaging what they can, they make it to another nearby cabin, less damaged but hiding a secret. There they must protect themselves from local thieves, security men, even alligators. The Everglades can be a hostile environment, even to the natives.

Jonathon King writes a fast moving book rich with heat, smells, and the atmosphere of southern Florida, page-turning plotting and peopled by well-honed characters.
