This is the fifth in Jonathon King’s Max Freeman series. Acts of Nature finds Max and Sherry enjoying a week long vacation in the Everglades. They have left Max’s cabin and ventured further into the glades to a friend’s fishing camp.

Their idyllic vacation turns into a fight for survival that they are totally unprepared for when Hurricane Simone hits and Sherry is gravely injured and no one knows their location. Now they must get to civilization and a hospital as soon as possible if Sherry is going to survive.

Their odds lessen when they are destined to meet up with a group of young men out scavenging after the hurricane. Two other hardened mercenary men are also headed to the area when the oil company they work for sends them out to check on some property in the area. Neither group is going to show Max and Sherry mercy.

Once again I enjoyed Jonathon King’s nature descriptions and am glad that I do not live in a hurricane region. This was another good installment in the Max Freeman series and I look forward to others.
