Nick Mullins is a veteran crime reporter on a Florida newspaper. Nick was married with twin girls but a drunk driver took the life of Nick’s wife and one of his daughters. Now Nick is trying to maintain a normal life for his young daughter Carly. Nick has the help of his housekeeper Elsa but still it is hard to be a full time journalist and a full time dad.

Nick gets a tip that a sniper has just shot a convict as he was being taken into court. Nick Mullins not only gets the story but also figures out the location from where the sniper shot. When Nick realizes that the victim was the subject of one of his old stories he began researching sniper shootings and finds that more than one sniper victim was the subject of his stories.

The sniper feels that Nick is a fair reporter and tries to show respect when writing his stories. He has collected Nick’s stories over the years. Eventually the sniper contacts Nick and they meet. Nick is given a clue as to who the last shooting will involve and works with the police to try to catch the sniper before someone else is hurt. This is the first Nick Mullins book and whether Jonathan King plans a series I don’t know but I would like to see more of Nick.
