Series: Crime Diaries # 2

So, fresh from reading THE BURGLAR DIARIES, I had to get the next installment, THE BANK ROBBER DIARIES, which came out last year. Same feel, but a little less laugh-out-loud than BURGLAR was. Meet Chris Benson. He got into the bank robbing business because his older brother Gavin, whom Chris worshipped, was doing just that. In the beginning, things were good, as Gavin, Chris, and two other mates Sid and Vince, robbed banks, made a good living, and most importantly, never got caught. Except when Gavin finally does, earning himself a 15-year stint in jail. What's a bank robbing clique to do? Well, they continue on, except things just don't sail as smoothly. Vince becomes more sociopathic, Sid less effective, and Chris's life is going to pieces. His wife, Debbie, is becoming a surburban nympho. His sister-in-law can't shag her husband so Chris is the next best thing. And naturally, there's lots of crazy things happening when Chris is supposed to be robbing banks. Like victims who misbehave, people who get killed but shouldn't....you know, the usual thing.

So basically, if you're into people like Colin Bateman and Christopher Brookmyre, you'll likely be a fan of King's books as well. And as stated above, #3 in the series is THE HITMAN DIARIES, and it's out on May 23. After that? THE PORNOGRAPHER DIARIES. I'm a little scared to know what #5 will be..…
