Class/Genre:   Mystery
Series: Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels # 1

Lt. Jacqueline (Jack) Daniels, tough and ambitious, is investigating a serial murderer who targets women - and who starts targeting her. In this fast-paced police procedural, the tension rises as Jack's efforts to solve the murders are countered by the killer's attempts to not only escape detection, but also to add Jack to his list of victims.

In spite of the grim plot, the novel is enlivened by funny vignettes and asides. Jack wisecracks throughout the book, and her meetings with the FBI experts are hilarious. While the novel isn't one with in-depth characterization, it is a gripping, fast-paced and funny read that should appeal most readers.
