Maxi Poole is a television news anchor-reporter and is sent out to investigate the suspicious death of Gillian Rose. Gillian Rose is a billionaire in the dietary supplements empire who is found dead in her office. Maxi is pulled off the case when the authorities initially decide it was a natural death. However things keep dragging her back in, like the not too saddened widower who is willing to offer her information. There are several suspects including the widower, his assistant with whom he been having an affair, to Gillian’s assistant along with a few others.

This book was on the lighter side of what I normally read but I found it quite enjoyable and entertaining. Not only does it take you through the investigation of Gillian’s death, but gives you some insight as to how a newsroom operates and into the lives of Maxi’s co-workers. She also gives you a good deal of depth with Maxi’s character that makes you want to read more of Maxi’s life and adventures.

I will be getting the first in the series to read and look forward to future installments in the Maxi Poole series.
