Maxi Poole is a reporter for a large, Los Angeles television station. She is also a member of the "Jack Natanson Ex-Wives Club" and a good friend of another club-member. When the famous actor is found dead inside Ex-#1's home, Maxie is convinced Debra didn't do it. Not that Jack didn't deserve killing, mind you. But Maxie is convinced that none of the wives are to blame. In order to prove it and since she is a suspect, too, Maxie gets involved in the investigation.

What follows is a zany, delightful romp through the often bizarre world that is "La-La-Land"; home to the rich and the infamous, from Malibu to Beverly Hills and on to Hollywood. From the bizarre funeral with the glass coffin this is a wild ride through the world of stars and hot lights to bodies falling all over the place.

Maxie is a character as zany as you could wish for, who can get away with saying things I doubt Kelly could in real life. Maxi is "sexy, chic, and wickedly clever" and has a mouth that would get her fired in real life, but she is incredible fun. "La-La-Land" can be both dark and dangerous, but Kelly manages to balance it with wit and a behind-the-scenes savvy that makes it a great read!
