This seems to be a story about how movies are made. Much of the story takes place in Hollywood where restaurants are mentioned and names are dropped.

Unfortunately the story lacks excitement or purpose in the first half or more of the book. The unmemorable characters sit around drinking, gossiping, talking endlessly, sometimes depressing talk of death.

More than halfway through the book the characters take a trip to Vegas and things finally begin to happen. After the return to California someone dies, followed by more deaths and a bit of intrigue.

Sadly the story did not work for me. More action and a clearer purpose would have helped.
