Series: Kaycee Miller # 2

Kaycee Miller is a psychologist and a handwriting analyst. In this, the second Kaycee novel, her significant other, Max, is involved in a series of search and rescue missions in national forests with his rescue dog Stagga, The FBI is involved, but unable to determine if kidnappings or suicide. Kaycee becomes involved by offering to check handwriting samples to determine if victims show suicidal tendencies.

This is a really well written, edge-of-the-seat thriller. There are good details on helicopters, rescue tactics, FLIR, which is a thermal infrared system, and GPS use. The settings are marvelously done, and characters are real and complex. Jodie Larsen has written a number of books, and all should be worth hunting out.
