Death Perception is the latest in the psychic Abby Cooper series. She has helped her FBI agent boyfriend, Dutch Rivers, on cases in the past. The case in this book is more personal. Abby and Dutch head to Las Vegas when Dutch’s cousin, Chase, is kidnapped. Chase was working as a bodyguard for local businessman, Ricardo Delgado, when they were both kidnapped.
Abby is certain that Chase is still alive but they seem to keep hitting dead ends rather than finding solid leads on the kidnappers. Dutch is also struck with a mysterious illness and avoiding enlisting the help of the local FBI. Abby is quite upset as she continues to have nightmare visions of Dutch’s death and he will not explain his reluctance to involve the local FBI which becomes suspicious.
Soon Candice, Abby’s PI business partner, is out in Vegas to help with the investigation and try to keep Abby out of trouble along with Abby’s sister Cat. Very quickly they are all in more trouble than they could ever imagine and one begins to wonder if any of them will return from their trip to Vegas let alone locate the kidnap victims.
I really enjoyed this book. It was my first Abby Cooper book and I do intend to look for others. My only problem with the book was I found the “Omigods” and “Awesome”, etc. a bit too much in the dialogue. If you can ignore those, Death Perception, is a good, fast paced, action packed book that leaves one reading as quickly as you can to find out what will happen next.
