The mysterious and ultra-top secret Department of Interior continues to seek Val Con yos’ Phelium and his life-mate Miri Robertson. Val and Miri steal a spaceship and flee to Lytaxin where Miri expects to find a haven for the two of them with her kin. Before making their run, Val and Miri begin spreading the word among their Clan Korval allies to rendezvous on the planet.
However, not only has the Department of Interior learned about the destination, but an alien invasion by the belligerent Yxtrang threaten the core of Lytaxin. Apparently Val and Miri have inadvertently brought with them several forces that converge on an innocent planet with destruction on their collective minds.
The return to the Liaden series after a long hiatus will please fans of the cult classics. The story line of PLAN B is an old fashion Star Wars-like tale filled with devastation, war, and eccentric characters. Like many outer space tales, at time the plot makes leaps of faith into an action-packed scene without providing a proper entrance. Still, science fiction fan who has not read the original tales can still enjoy this entertaining book, but will not understand some of the references and motives. This reviewer suggests to those readers to turn to PLAN B and wait until Meisha Merlin re-releases the original set as shortly planned before reading this very enjoyable tale.
