Series: Steve Solomon and Victoria Lord # 4
Bantam, 2007

This fourth Solomon vs Lord novel is a worthy addition to the series featuring the Florida lawyers Steve Solomon and Victoria Lord.

Steve Solomon and his dolphin-obsessed nephew happen to be on the scene when an eco-terrorist attack on a water-park results in a death. By the next day, Steve has a new, high-profile case defending one of the surviving terrorist, who did not escape. This case will surely bring some much-needed publicity to the Solomon and Lord law firm. Meanwhile, Victoria, unaware of Steve and Bobby's adventure, and tired of the bizarre and trivial cases Steve has been asking her to help with, is thrilled to be offered a temporary position as a prosecutor. She'll be prosecuting the easy and high-profile charge of felony murder being made against an eco-terrorist.

I had never heard of 'felony murder' before, and now feel quite familiar with the concept, but of course I don't read Levine's books for their educational value. I read them for the hilarious situations and the believable characters. In this latest addition to the series, the fast-paced plot twists are masterfully handled, always suspenseful. and laced with Levine's trademark humour.

Levine seems to be getting better and better. His combination of interesting characters, deft plot twists and wicked humour are irresistable.
