Too Rich To Live was the first Karen Glick novel and Fear & Greed, the second Karen Glick novel, is much better in my opinion than the first. I don’t think it is necessary to read Too Rich To Live to enjoy Fear & Greed but reading it does give you a good background on the characters and Karen’s lifestyle.
Karen is still trying to break into the field of investigative reporting and this time she almost gets in over her head. Karen had written an article about the Reiner sisters who created a program that predicted the stock market. Goldring made the three girls rich. Karen’s Profit magazine article made them famous.
Now it seems there a number of people wanting to get their hands on the Reiner sisters’ computer that they call Goldring. Flo is the computer whiz, Ginny is a teacher and Linda is a beauty. Together they have made themselves a ton of money with Goldring. Suddenly tragedy strikes the trio. Flo is shot in her office and Goldring has disappeared.
Karen steps in and offers to help find the murderer and recover the computer. Linda accepts the help with the added condition that Linda tag along with Karen in her efforts to find out who shot Flo and stole Goldring.
Karen and Linda aren’t the two most compatible people. Linda has been dating Karen’s ex-husband and he causes a few problems too. The exchanges between the two add a lot of humor to the story
Fear & Greed is a fast-paced interesting novel that I enjoyed reading.
