No Doubt, Sarah Lovett’s Sylvia Strange is becoming almost as invincible as Clancy’s Jack Ryan the early years. It’s pulled off with great finesse, fun plotting and better prose than Clancy ever dreamed he’d write.
In Dark Alchemy, Sylvia has ten days to go before her wedding. Plenty of time to profile scientist/doctor Christine Palmer for her F.B.I. mentor Edmond Sweerheart. It seems that in addition to being one of the world’s most predominant biochemical engineers the lady has a nasty little habit of serial poisoning .The trail of bodies she’s left in her wake is almost as long as the list of new bio-toxins she’s developed in the lab.
So we have wedding plans, international travel, breached security, dog tending, a speech at the local school and personal danger to take us through the pages of this tale. It’s all jolly good fun and an entertaining way to spend a couple of nights reclining on your favorite piece of furniture.
