Brian Lutterman takes the well-worn plot of do-what-we-say-or-we'll- kill-your-daughter and gives it a few twists of his own.

Hal Dwyer is a well-heeled corporate executive at Horrey Technologies, a large defense contractor poised to merge with one of their strongest competitors. The resultant company is to be run by Hal's old adversary, Vince Nash. When Hal's daughter is kidnaped and he is told to steal the computer code for Horrey's most sensitive project (potentially leaving our country vulnerable to attack), Hal does the unexpected in a desperate attempt to save both his daughter and his country. The story is an interesting study in contrasts corporate greed and treachery as well as self- enlightenment and loyalty.

The tension starts in the second paragraph and doesn't loosen its grip on the reader until the very end. Literally, I could not put the book down. This was my first experience with Brian Lutterman; now I'm very anxious to read his book, Bound to Die!
