When I read the first Tori O'Shea mystery I thought she showed promise but the story didn't really grab me and I wasn't sure I liked the characters. In the very small sub-genre of genealogy mysteries however this one has replaced my previous favorite as the best of the genre. As an amateur genealogist of several decades standing I loved this story. She has captured the reality of following the trail through dusty old documents, the essence of the adventure one can discover in this hobby and thrill of relating ancient history to today.

The premise involving an ancient beloved story we all have enjoyed many times was quite inventive. I also really enjoyed the rounding out and growth of her series characters which I found more likeable in this second effort. I look forward to their future adventures. I recommend this story to all regardless of your genre preferences.
