Patience Sinclair looks forward to her time away from the Boston area partly due to the stalking of her by Tyler Stanfield, but mostly because of the opportunity to complete her thesis research on Women in Western History by being part of a rodeo. In Texas, Patience gets off on the wrong foot with rodeo superstar Dallas Kingman who writes her off as a pretty “buckle bunny”.

However, as Patience and Dallas become better acquainted an attraction blossoms, but both know that nothing can come of it because he is western cowboy and she is sophisticated Bostonian. Still with Tyler closing in on her, Dallas needs to keep the woman he loves safe though the eastern tenderfoot keeps surprising him with her courage, her knowledge of the west and even her riding skills, but most of all how she makes him feel. Now to persuade the wannabe professor they can make a life together even if she is New England and he is southwest.

Though the Tyler subplot is a nuisance to a wonderful contemporary romance with a pinch of late suspense, fans will enjoy this gender battle between Massachusetts and Texas (sounds like the presidential race) because the lead pair is a delightful charming duo whether they love or squabble. The story line is at its top when the rodeo setting is in the forefront, which is much of the tale. Kat Martin furbishes a wonderful tale that adds luster to her career as did the previous Sinclair sister’s story in MIDNIGHT SUN.
